Honeycomb Paper Pallet is a disposable export product made of honeycomb cardboard and paper corners. It is mainly used to replace wooden pallets carrying export goods. The paper pallet is environmentally friendly, does not require fumigation and disinfection. It can be 100% recycled, weighs 1/3 of the same wooden pallet, is sturdy and easy to carry, and is suitable for rapid mechanical operation in container transportation.
Honeycomb cardboard mimics the structure of a honeycomb, using paper as the base material, and is produced with modern electromechanical integration to form a new honeycomb-like material. The honeycomb structure originated from bionics. Scientists, through observation and research on honeycombs, discovered that the hexagonal structure of the honeycomb is the most stable structure, similar to the benzene ring structure in organic chemistry. After repeated experiments, honeycomb composite materials were finally created. This material was first used in high-tech fields such as aviation and aerospace, where the protective layer of rockets is honeycomb-shaped. Later, it was gradually promoted, and its raw materials can include platinum foil, plastic, kraft paper, etc.
Honeycomb paper pallets are classified into: three-runner type, three-runner perforated type, nine-block type, nine-block with baseboard type, six-block type, and surrounding frame type.
A complete honeycomb paper pallet structure consists of three basic parts: a bearing panel, longitudinal beams or blocks (leg blocks), and an additional baseboard.
The height of the leg blocks is generally 90mm. The most commonly used shape for the leg blocks of paper stacker board pallets in China is a square block, although some corrugated paper pallets use round leg blocks.
Pallet baseboards are divided into strip and whole board types. Adding a baseboard can prevent panel deformation caused by unsecured leg blocks under load. To facilitate the use of hydraulic forklifts, whole board types must have four elliptical holes, and slots at the places where the leg blocks are glued, ensuring tight adhesion during assembly, which greatly increases the strength of the honeycomb paper pallet.
The core paper of honeycomb cardboard generally uses high-strength corrugated base paper with a quantitative ≥150g/m². Depending on the load capacity, papers of different quantification can be chosen. Different types of honeycomb paper cores can also be used: for static loads <500kg, the type of honeycomb core paper is C-type; for static loads ≥500kg, the type is B-type. The surface paper of the honeycomb uses sand tube paper with a quantitative ≥450g/m².
Paper corners are made by laminating multiple layers of kraft paper, then pressed and shaped by a corner guard machine (also known as edge boards) to protect the edges of honeycomb paper pallets and to enhance their compression resistance. Specifications (h*A*B) include: 5*50*50, 3.5*50*50, 5*70*70, and 3.5*70*70. In addition, U-shaped paper corners can be used in conjunction with the pallet panel, although their cost is slightly higher than L-shaped paper corners.
